Community Involvement

SAFE Credit Union is an institution founded on the philosophy of people helping people. SAFE takes great joy in perpetuating that philosophy by helping the community through a variety of philanthropic and volunteer efforts.

The Aerospace Museum of California has long had a special relationship with SAFE, as we were originally chartered as the Sacramento Air Depot Federal Credit Union in 1940. In 2010, SAFE sponsored STAR TREK: The Exhibition, and contributed to the museum's annual fundraisers. Our Aerospace Learning Center also shares new technologies in aviation, science, and math.
The Sacramento County Office of Education Academic Decathlon celebrated its 31st year in 2011, with SAFE providing $10,000 in support. SAFE provided scholarships to the exceptional high school student medalists and winning teams. SAFE also sponsored three local high schools' participation. The event reaffirms the importance of a well-rounded education, and its participants are strong role models for their peers and community.
ViewFinder is the only locally-produced series about our community. SAFE underwrites this interesting and informative series on public television station KVIE by providing $30,000 of support annually. Shot in digital widescreen format, ViewFinder covers both in-depth treatments of individual topics and episodes that frame the Valley in a larger perspective to provide a closer look at topics that are important to our members.
