Roseville, Calif. Feb 1, 2010 - SAFE Credit Union will offer free tax help for Roseville area seniors 60 years old and older starting Feb. 5 at its West Roseville branch, located at 9055 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd., Suite 150.
SAFE is partnering with AARP to offer the service through trained and certified AARP Tax-Aide volunteers. They will be available on Fridays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through April 9. Seniors are encouraged to make an appointment by calling (916) 774-5960. If a tax return is relatively complex, involving items such as limited partnerships and real estate rentals, a Tax-Aide volunteer may advise seeking assistance from another tax professional who specializes in a specific area.
One of the Tax-Aide volunteers is Don Hug, a member of SAFE’s board of directors.
“I have received tremendous satisfaction from preparing tax returns as a volunteer for 22 years because people really appreciate the services and come back every year,” Hug said.
Seniors who live outside of Roseville can visit the state Franchise Tax Board online at http://www.ftb.ca.gov/individuals/vita/sites.asp for a list of other free tax preparation sites.
Established in 1940, SAFE Credit Union maintains assets in excess of $1.6 billion and serves more than 150,000 members through 21 branches in the greater Sacramento region.
