Direct Deposit

Save yourself a visit to a branch or ATM to deposit a paper check by setting up direct deposit. Plus, when you have a SAFE Checking account with direct deposit, you can skip the processing periods and get paid early—up to two days early1 for paychecks and up to five days early2 for federal payments, including your federal tax refund.

Early Payday

We get it, we give it! Early Payday with direct deposit is a banking feature that lets you receive your paycheck up to two days earlier than a regularly scheduled payday.1

Get paid through a peer-to-peer (P2P) app like Venmo or PayPal? When you transfer your money from the app to your SAFE account, you’ll get your payment up to two days faster, too.

Federal Payments

Get paid up to five days early for federal tax returns and other federal payments,2 such as:

  • Social Security
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Pension
  • VA Compensation

Set up Early Payday with Direct Deposit

Provide your payroll office with the SAFE Credit Union routing number (321173742) and your SAFE account number (also called the ACH number) where you would like your check deposited. To find your account number:

  • Log in to Online Banking or the SAFE Mobile App
  • Click on the account you want the account number for
  • Click "Account Details"
  • You will see the account number.

If your payroll office requires a blank check from your account to verify the information, be sure to write VOID on the check.

You can print a copy of the SAFE direct deposit form.

If you don’t have checks associated with your account, you’ll need to get a direct deposit form with a printed personalized image of a check. Call (916) 979-7233 or (800) SEE-SAFE, chat, or visit the branch to get your personalized direct deposit form securely!

Set up Direct Deposit for your Federal Tax Refund

1 With Early Payday, SAFE may make incoming direct deposits made through ACH available for use up to two days before the scheduled payment date. Early availability of direct deposits is not guaranteed and may vary from deposit to deposit. Funds availability may depend on when we receive the originator’s instructions, any limitations we set on the amount of early availability, and fraud prevention screening. Funds not eligible for Early Payday deposits or credits to your account, include deposits of physical checks or remote check deposits, and other online transfers or electronic credits. 2 Early access to funds sent directly from the federal government may get paid up to 5 days early. Federal tax refund deposits are subject to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) timing and applies to federal tax returns filed directly with the IRS. Federal benefit payments, such as government payroll, pension, or other government benefits payment made through ACH may also be paid up to 5 days early. The United States Treasury Department requires federal benefit payments to be made electronically.
