ICYMI: SAFE’s Community Impact Manager Reminds Us to Give the Gift of Time for Big Day of Giving

Folsom, Calif. – (April 30, 2025) – May 1 marks Sacramento’s Big Day of Giving, an annual day of fundraising where Sacramento-region residents are encouraged to support their favorite nonprofits. That's why SAFE Credit Union's Community Impact Manager, Lauren LeBov wrote a guest column on how donations are important, but giving the gift of time can help just as much.

“Volunteerism has incredible benefits for individuals, but it can be just as rewarding for the community,” SAFE Credit Union Community Impact Manager Lauren LeBov writes in column published in The Sacramento Bee. “It boosts the local economy, improves public health and strengthens the job market.”

LeBov shares local examples of the economic benefits of volunteering, personal health benefits and how volunteering enhances career skills.

“Volunteering can also provide excellent job training by providing volunteers with new skills and connecting businesses and local causes that might be looking to hire with qualified individuals,” she adds.

LeBov leads SAFE Credit Union’s community impact initiatives, including volunteerism, philanthropy, and scholarships.
