Security Bulletin: Text Smishing Attack

There is a smishing (SMS text phishing) campaign circulating the Sacramento region. The text message claims that your card has been placed on hold and attempts to solicit members to call a phone number to provide their card information (see example below).  This communication is not from SAFE Credit Union. SAFE Credit Union does not solicit financial or personal information through automated text messages.

If you receive a text message like this, please follow these recommendations:

  • DO NOT respond to the text message
  • DO NOT click on any links
  • DO NOT call any phone numbers provided
