SAFE Takes Top Honors in Financial Literacy Speech Competition
Contestants in the 2011 Credit Union Partners in Education Speech Competition delivered their own unique perspectives on "How to Get Your Financial Ship off the Rocks." This year’s winners include:
- First Place: Elise Page, SAFE Credit Union
- Second Place: Javier Huerta, The Golden 1 Credit Union
- Third Place: Kaylin Fadel, SAFE Credit Union
Each spring, Credit Union Partners in Education (CU-PIE) hosts a speech competition among credit union professionals to highlight credit unions’ responsibility and privilege to promote financial wellness. For more than forty years, the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California-Nevada Credit Union League and CU-PIE have worked together to present this event and shine a light on financial literacy. The event began as a competition to crown a white-gloved "Miss Credit Union," and has evolved into a co-ed speech contest which provides the rising stars at participating credit unions an opportunity to share their talent and innovative ideas.
One of the best ways to help young Californians reach their goals is to encourage financial literacy. The annual event gives future leaders a forum to share original ideas and to remind credit unions of our shared heritage of improving the well-being of our communities.
