SAFE Credit Union Recognizes Ron Seaman and Announces Terrence Tremelling as Board Chairman

FOLSOM, Calif. – May 25, 2017 – Following the recent SAFE Credit Union Annual Meeting, it was announced that Terrance Tremelling will be succeeding Ron Seaman as Board Chairman. Ron Seaman will remain actively involved with SAFE as Board Director for the next three-year term, continuing to assist SAFE with long-term business strategy and member service focus.

Ron Seaman, who joined SAFE’s board of directors in 1986, became board chair in 1996, and served in that capacity for 20 years, has witnessed significant changes during his tenure. Under his leadership, SAFE enjoyed tremendous success with assets growing from $500 million and 94,000 members to current assets totaling more than $2.6 billion and 212,000 members. His leadership and guidance have helped SAFE become the second largest credit union in the Greater Sacramento region and one of the top 15 out of more than 300 in California.

Ron has been a steadfast leader in the credit union movement, volunteering a significant amount of personal time beyond his direct leadership of the SAFE Board of Directors. He championed credit unions at the local, state, and national level while serving as the advocacy chairperson of the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Credit Union League (League). He attended the League’s annual Government Relations Rally in Sacramento and Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington D.C. and served on the League’s board of directors. Ron has also served on the Credit Union National Association’s Volunteer Leadership Committee from 2011 to 2015. His dedication stems from his desire to help credit unions better serve their membership and their communities.

“Ron has been a key figure in the growth and direction of SAFE, and his extraordinary service to the credit union industry and our members has been monumental. It has been Ron’s dedicated commitment to partner with SAFE’s leadership and the credit union community that has helped to empower all of us to achieve SAFE’s mission,” said Dave Roughton, President and CEO.

Terrance (Terry) Tremelling was nominated and elected by SAFE’s board of directors to serve as Board Chairman following the April annual meeting. Terry has been an enthusiastic and committed credit union volunteer and member since 1971, and served as a board member for the Northern California Grocers Credit Union in the late 1980s - supporting the decision to ultimately merge with SAFE in 1987. Terry joined SAFE’s board in 2006, serving three terms as a director. He retired in 2007 from a 26 year career as an executive with Raley’s Family of Stores. He has served on the ALCO, IT, Product and Portfolio, and Capital Asset committees and annually attends the League’s Government Relations Rally in Sacramento and Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington D.C in support of credit union initiatives. Terry is an active member of the Sacramento community and has volunteered for numerous organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Building Together, and as a board member of the Regional Advisory Council for ByDesign.

“Terry is a professional expert in every sense of the word and brings to the table a unique perspective on delivering exceptional experiences through his career in the food service industry. I believe Terry will help guide SAFE to new heights as our Board Chair,” said Roughton.
